RVBedScout / methodology

How we research RV mattresses.

RVBedScout compares published specifications and purchase conditions. We have not performed physical sleep, installation, durability or cooling tests. A configuration can meet known nominal measurements while still needing tolerance or mechanism confirmation.

The size dictionary is a research sample

The 8 October 2026 research assembled a dictionary of 40 rectangular width-and-length pairs and 215 model or catalog-group × size observations. These are sample counts, not the total RV market, inventory quantities or 215 ready-to-buy SKUs.

Two dictionary entries, 53 × 74 and 72 × 78, have guide-level evidence only in this sample. A missing product row means our evidence is incomplete. It does not establish that the size is unavailable or must be custom-made. Supplier names and size aliases are preserved with their actual measurements.

Checked configurations are a separate evidence layer

A published model-size row may lack a selected thickness, SKU or configuration quote. We do not multiply a model's size list by its height list to create combinations that were never confirmed.

A checked configuration records the supported width, length and thickness, a supplier link, the relevant evidence and the check time. Where shown, a price is a dated page observation with its price type. It is not a live checkout quote, a tax-and-delivery total or proof of stock. Net mattress weight is stored separately from shipping weight.

The workbench narrows a list; it does not certify installation

Width and length remain exact groups: 60 × 74 is not silently treated as 60 × 75. Added layers count toward total height. Missing net weight is not estimated from construction. Murphy, folding, slide-out and lift requirements are separate checks.

Finished-size tolerance and required clearance come from the supplier and the bed or vehicle manufacturer. We do not invent a universal allowance or infer approval from a model, floorplan or soft material.

ResultMeaning
Specification candidateKnown nominal fields meet the entered checks; unresolved conditions remain visible
Known conflictA documented dimension, height or other constraint fails an entered requirement
Needs confirmationA required measurement, weight, shape or mechanism approval is not established

Policies belong to a seller and an observation date

Wrong-size returns, comfort trials, warranties, cancellation and removal costs are recorded separately. We keep conflicting statements and historical versions instead of replacing them with the most attractive terms.

A newer official-page check can resolve an old conflict. That update is dated and scoped to the text actually checked; it is not a claim that every product, checkout or stock status was reviewed. Reopen the seller's terms before ordering.
